The Department’s master’s program in Speech-Language Pathology has been continuously accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of ASHA since 1988, and newly accredited for distance education as of 2022.

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders joins the School of Health and Human Sciences.

1997

The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program becomes the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

1994

The Department of Communication and Theater splits into the Department of Communication, containing the new Communication Sciences and Disorders Program, and the Department of Broadcasting/Cinema and Theatre.

The Department of Drama and Speech becomes the Department of Communication and Theater.

The University Speech and Hearing Center is established.
