BRIEF BIO
Desi Smith is a doctoral student and a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Master of Arts in Speech Language Pathology from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She has spent her eight years of professional practice in the public school system working with children ranging from ages 4 to 22. Her research interests include adolescent language, expository discourse intervention and assessment, and cultural and linguistic diversity. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking vegetarian food, gardening, and fiber arts.
