A minimum bachelor’s degree GPA of 3.0 is required. In addition, students must complete all prerequisite coursework prior to enrollment in the Master’s in SLP program.

Evaluations/LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION

UNCG requires three letters of recommendation to be submitted via CSDCAS. At least 2 of the letters must be academic and the 3rd may be academic or professional.

Personal Essay

The Personal Essay, submitted via CSDCAS, should address the applicant’s rationale for: 1. Pursuing an advanced degree in speech-language pathology, 2. Choosing the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at UNCG for this degree, and 3. Unique skills or experiences that will facilitate excellence in graduate study. The format of the Personal Essay must include 12-point font, 1-inch margins, double-spaced text, and be a maximum of 2 pages in length.

RESUMÉ

The resumé, submitted via CSDCAS, should include the following information: Education, Employment, Relevant Experiences (e.g., leadership, collaboration, research experience, etc.), Honors/Awards/Recognition, and Additional Skills (e.g., second language, CPR, etc.). The resumé should be 1-2 pages in length, using a 12-point font, 1-inch margins and written in a professional style. It should only include information and experiences that have occurred since completing high school.

COMPLETION OF CSD COURSEWORK

In CSDCAS, students must submit a list of courses taken to fulfill the content areas listed on our Prerequisite Course Requirements page.  Students must complete all prerequisite coursework prior to enrollment in the Master’s in SLP program.

Please note: Courses from other four-year institutions and community colleges may have a different title from our pre-requisite major course. Please list courses form your transcript that are likely to fulfill each course requirement.

VERIFICATION OF 25 HOURS OF GUIDED OBSERVATIONS

Prior to enrolling in the Master’s Program in Speech-Language Pathology, students must complete 25 hours of Guided Observations as per ASHA Scope of Practice in Speech-Language Pathology guided observations standards prior to enrollment in MA SLP coursework.
