Admission Requirements and Secondary Application
The Fall 2026 Application Opens February 1st
CSD’s Secondary Application is Due by May 15th Each year.
SPAU Students must Apply and be admitted to “the CSD Undergraduate (UG) Program” before taking upper-level CSD courses (CSD 300+).
UNCG’s pre-professional undergraduate program in Speech Pathology and Audiology (SPAU) is an on-campus, face-to-face program available to students:
- Completing a first undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in preparation for graduate programs in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), or Audiology (Au.D.).
- Completing prerequisite courses before entering a graduate level program in Speech-Language Pathology. These applicants are often changing career directions and have completed/are completing a bachelor degree (or higher) in another field (Prereq or Second Degree students).
Admission Requirements
- Complete 55 college credit hours by May 15th of the application year. Note: Students who have NOT obtained 55 credit hours by May 15 will not be considered for admission.
- Minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA (for all college credit hours)
- Complete CSD’s Secondary Application/all required transcripts by May 15th
- Submit an Official transcript for all colleges attended.
- Including college credits earned in high school
- Showing a letter grade for all courses (not a “T”)
- Submit an Official transcript showing final spring grades for the current semester (due by May 15th)
- Unofficial transcripts are accepted from UNCG
CSD Secondary Application
When to Apply for the CSD Program
Applicants typically apply during the spring semester of their “sophomore year” for the upcoming fall semester; it is important to plan out your coursework, so that you will complete 55 credit hours by May 15th during the semester that the application is submitted.
Freshman and Sophomore Students Seeking a Bachelor’s Degree (SPAU)
- Follow CSD’s Suggested Plan of Study for the Speech Pathology or Audiology Track.
- Complete MAC and SPAU Major requirements during your first 2 to 3 semesters at UNCG
- The CSD application opens January 1st each year; at that time, you will apply as a Current/Continuing Student Application
- Complete 55 credit hours by May 15th
Current/Continuing Students
Submit CSD’s “Current/Continuing Student Application” during spring of your “sophomore year” if you will have completed 55 credit hours by May 15th; otherwise, wait until the following spring application cycle.
Upload and/or submit transcripts as directed below.
All New Students:
- Early College (apply during your Senior year in High School)
- Transfer
- Second Degree/Prerequisite students
- Former UNCG Students (apply as a “second degree student”)
Submit your UNCG Application late fall/early spring if you will have completed 55 credit hours by May 15th; otherwise, wait until the following spring application cycle.
Applicants with an associate degree (or higher) meet the credit hour requirement, since they will have earned at least 55 credit hours to complete their degree.
Submit CSD’s Secondary Application through the UNCG Application Portal
- Apply to UNCG: Create an account to start your UNCG application
- Or, log in as a Returning User (do not create a duplicate account or start a new application)
- The UNCG application must be submitted to access CSD’s Secondary application.
- CSD’s Secondary Application opens January 1st
- After January 1st: CSD’s Secondary Application will be added to the “Checklist” on your Application Portal within a few hours after you submit your UNCG application.
- Submit CSD’s Secondary Application, then upload and/or submit transcripts as directed.
- Former UNCG students should upload unofficial transcripts from UNCG to the application.
