The Fall 2026 Application Opens February 1st

CSD’s Secondary Application is Due by May 15th Each year.

SPAU Students must Apply and be admitted to “the CSD Undergraduate (UG) Program” before taking upper-level CSD courses (CSD 300+).

UNCG’s pre-professional undergraduate program in Speech Pathology and Audiology (SPAU) is an on-campus, face-to-face program available to students:

  • Completing a first undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in preparation for graduate programs in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), or Audiology (Au.D.).
  • Completing prerequisite courses before entering a graduate level program in Speech-Language Pathology. These applicants are often changing career directions and have completed/are completing a bachelor degree (or higher) in another field (Prereq or Second Degree students).

Admission Requirements

  • Complete 55 college credit hours by May 15th of the application year. Note: Students who have NOT obtained 55 credit hours by May 15 will not be considered for admission.
  • Minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA (for all college credit hours)
  • Complete CSD’s Secondary Application/all required transcripts by May 15th
  • Submit an Official transcript for all colleges attended.
    • Including college credits earned in high school
    • Showing a letter grade for all courses (not a “T”)
  • Submit an Official transcript showing final spring grades for the current semester (due by May 15th)
  • Unofficial transcripts are accepted from UNCG

CSD Secondary Application

When to Apply for the CSD Program

Applicants typically apply during the spring semester of their “sophomore year” for the upcoming fall semester; it is important to plan out your coursework, so that you will complete 55 credit hours by May 15th during the semester that the application is submitted.

Freshman and Sophomore Students Seeking a Bachelor’s Degree (SPAU)
  • Follow CSD’s Suggested Plan of Study for the Speech Pathology or Audiology Track.
  • Complete MAC and SPAU Major requirements during your first 2 to 3 semesters at UNCG
  • The CSD application opens January 1st each year; at that time, you will apply as a Current/Continuing Student Application
  • Complete 55 credit hours by May 15th
Current/Continuing Students

Submit CSD’s “Current/Continuing Student Application” during spring of your “sophomore year” if you will have completed 55 credit hours by May 15th; otherwise, wait until the following spring application cycle.

Upload and/or submit transcripts as directed below.

All New Students:

Submit your UNCG Application late fall/early spring if you will have completed 55 credit hours by May 15th; otherwise, wait until the following spring application cycle.

Applicants with an associate degree (or higher) meet the credit hour requirement, since they will have earned at least 55 credit hours to complete their degree.

Submit CSD’s Secondary Application through the UNCG Application Portal
  1. Apply to UNCG: Create an account to start your UNCG application
  2. Or, log in as a Returning User (do not create a duplicate account or start a new application)
  3. The UNCG application must be submitted to access CSD’s Secondary application.
  4. CSD’s Secondary Application opens January 1st
  5. After January 1st: CSD’s Secondary Application will be added to the “Checklist” on your Application Portal within a few hours after you submit your UNCG application.
  6. Submit CSD’s Secondary Application, then upload and/or submit transcripts as directed.
  7. Former UNCG students should upload unofficial transcripts from UNCG to the application.

Complete the application and submit all transcripts by May 15th to:

  • Register for fall CSD courses.
  • Be considered for admission.
  • Remain enrolled in CSD courses this fall
  • Proceed with upper-level (300+ level) CSD courses in the Major.
Transcripts

Transfer students, Early College, Prerequisite Students:

  • Request ALL OFFICIAL transcripts to be sent electronically to “UNCG” through Parchment, the National Student Clearinghouse, etc. (see our FAQ page for more details)
  • Official transcripts for currently enrolled students should be sent AFTER spring grades have posted to your transcript.

Current or Former UNCG may students upload an UNOFFICIAL transcript:

  • Showing current enrollment: to be approved to register when your registration window opens.
  • AFTER spring grades have posted to your transcript, by May 15th
Application Deadlines, Admission and Acceptance
  • Admission to UNCG is separate from admission to the CSD Undergraduate Program.
  • CSD’s deadline for applications and transcripts is earlier than the UNCG Office of Admissions deadline; be sure to submit all transcripts/materials requested by CSD’s May 15th deadline.
  • Respond promptly to all requests from the CSD Department, even after you have received/accepted an offer from UNCG.
CSD Undergraduate Admission committee

CSD will send admission’s decision letters out via email AFTER May 21st each year. All applicants will receive an email from our Admission Committee at that time.

Note: Complete CSD’s Intent to Enroll form to accept our Offer of admission, to confirm your seat in our program, and to register for or remain enrolled in fall courses.

Second Degree or “Prerequisite” Students apply in the spring before their intended fall start date:
  • Students who are graduating from any college/university (including UNCG) with a bachelor or graduate degree this spring or summer
  • Students who have previously completed a bachelor or graduate degree at another college/university
  • Students who have previously completed a bachelor or graduate degree at UNCG
Submit CSD’s Secondary Application through the UNCG Application Portal
  1. Apply to UNCG: Create an account to start your UNCG application
  2. Or, log in as a Returning User .
  3. Select “Forgot Your Password?”, if needed, to reset your password (do not start a new application).
  4. Select the SPAU major, and any other information required to save a draft of your application.
  5. CSD’s Secondary Application will be added to your application dashboard as a checklist item within 3-4 hours.
  6. Submit the Secondary Application, then upload the transcripts as directed below
Transcripts Required
  • Send an OFFICIAL transcript to UNCG from each college/university you previously attended
  • UNCG Alumni or former student: Upload your UNOFFICIAL transcript from UNCG

FINAL STEP: Due BY May 15th

After your spring grades and/or degree post:

  • Send an OFFICIAL transcript after your final spring grades and/or your degree* post to your transcript.
  • UNCG Spring 2025 grads: Upload your current UNOFFICIAL transcript to the Materials tab on your UNCG Application Dashboard
  • Final transcripts must be received to complete your application/secure your seat in the CSD program.

*See the CSD Application FAQs tab below if your final spring grades will not post, or your degree will not be awarded before the deadline.

1. How do I send an official transcript to UNCG?

2. What if I am completing a degree this spring (or summer)?

Send your FINAL OFFICIAL transcript AFTER your degree shows as “awarded” on your transcript. If your degree is NOT awarded/listed on your transcript by May 15th:

  • BY May 15th: UPLOAD a copy of your UNOFFICIAL transcript (showing your final spring grades) to the Materials tab on your application portal
  • EMAIL csd@uncg.edu; please tell us the reason for the delay and when we can expect to receive your OFFICIAL transcript
  • Send your OFFICIAL transcript to UNCG AFTER your transcript shows that your degree has been “Awarded”
  • Email us to confirm that your final transcript us know that it has been sent.

3. What if my final spring grades will not be available until after May 15th?

(this is common for Early College students)

  • BY May 15th: UPLOAD a copy of your UNOFFICIAL transcript (showing your final spring grades) to the Materials tab on your application portal
  • EMAIL csd@uncg.edu; please tell us when we can expect to receive your OFFICIAL transcript and the reason for the delay.
  • AFTER your transcripts show your final spring grades, send an OFFICIAL transcript to UNCG, and email csd@uncg.edu to let us know that your final transcript has been submitted.
