Speech Pathology and Audiology Program (SPAU)
UNCG’s pre-professional undergraduate program in Speech Pathology and Audiology (SPAU) is an on-campus, face-to-face program for students:
- Completing a first undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in preparation for graduate programs in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), or Audiology (Au.D.).
- Completing prerequisite courses before entering a graduate level program in Speech-Language Pathology. Prerequisite (Second Degree) students are often changing career directions and have completed a bachelor degree (or higher) in another field.
- Completing CSD courses before seeking temporary registration as an SLP Assistant
All students must complete CSD’s Secondary Application and BE ADMITTED to “CSD’s Undergraduate Program” by the CSD Department before taking 300+ level CSD Undergraduate courses.
Admission Requirements
- Complete 55 college credit hours by May 15th of the application year. Note: Students who have NOT obtained 55 college credit hours by May 15 will not be considered for admission to CSD 300+ level courses.
- Minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA (for ALL colleges)
- Submit Official transcripts from all colleges attended to UNCG Undergraduate Admissions BY MAY 15th. Request these to be sent to the “University of North Carolina Greensboro”, Undergraduate Admissions electronically through Parchment or the National Student Clearinghouse as soon as spring grades post:
- Showing FINAL SPRING GRADES for the current/most recently attended semester
- Showing a letter grade for all courses (not a “T”) completed at all previously attended colleges/universities
- Including the college transcript from any college attended during high school (early college, dual enrollment, etc.).
- Complete CSD’s Secondary Application/Submit ALL required transcripts by May 15th

When to Apply for the CSD Program
Freshmen and Sophomore Students Seeking their 1st Bachelor’s Degree (SPAU)
Applicants should complete CSD’s Secondary Application during the spring semester of their sophomore (SO) year for the upcoming fall semester (JR year). Be sure to complete at least 55 credit hours by May 15th to be eligible for admission.
- Follow CSD’s Suggested Plan of Study for the Speech Pathology or Audiology Track.
- Complete MAC and SPAU Major requirements during your first 3 to 4 semesters of college.
- Submit CSD’s Secondary Application as a Current/continuing student after March 1st, by May 15th.
Current/Continuing UNCG Students
- Submit “CSD’s Current/Continuing Student Application” during spring of your sophomore year if you will complete 55 credit hours by May 15th; otherwise, wait until the next spring to apply (the link will be on this page at that time).
- Upload an unofficial UNCG transcript when you submit your CSD application (showing spring enrollment).
- LOG IN as a Returning User to the UNCG Application Portal. Use the personal email address (and password) that you orginally used to apply to UNCG.
- MOST students will need to update their password; check “forgot password” then, follow the prompts.
- Locate the Materials tab on this portal.
- Upload an unofficial transcript showing your final spring grades as soon as they post to your UNCG transcript. Email csd@uncg.edu and ask for help if needed.
- You are not required to submit an official transcript from any other colleges if UNCG has already received your final OFFICIAL transcript from that school.

New/Transfer or 2nd Degree/Prerequisite Students and Returning UNCG Alumni
NOTE: CSD’s May 15th deadline for applications and transcripts is earlier than the Undergraduate Admissions Rolling Deadline (usually late July/early August).
Since UNCG’s Undergraduate Application must be submitted before you can access CSD’s Secondary Application, be sure to submit BOTH applications well ahead of the May 15th deadline.

Submit your UNCG Application early to allow time for you to access and complete CSD’s Secondary Application process by May 15th
- Submit both applications during the spring semester prior to your fall start date at UNCG.
- Create an account to start your UNCG application or, log in as a Returning User (do not create a duplicate account or start a new application)
Complete CSD’s Secondary Application through the UNCG Application Portal
- CSD’s Secondary Application opens March 1st; it will be available through your UNCG Application Portal 36 to 48 hours after you submit your UNCG application.
- Submit CSD’s Secondary Application and all OFFICIAL transcripts as directed above.
- Current and Former UNCG students may upload unofficial transcripts from UNCG to the materials tab on the UNCG Application Portal. Check out our FAQ page for help with this step.
